GTA Online: All Treasure Hunt Locations

The treasure hunt mission in Grand Theft Auto Onlineoriginally released with The Doomsday Heist update, was an early advertisement for Rockstar Red Dead Redemption 2. Although the mission was introduced in 2017, it became very popular among fans and is still active today. Players who complete the quest will be rewarded with an exclusive weapon from the Wild Western RPG.




The hunt begins with a search for a clue that appears in one of 20 random locations marked by a photo. While this provides visual insight, it can be difficult to navigate if you are unfamiliar with the area. As you progress through the mission, you will earn $5,000 for each clue discovered. After collecting all the clues, you can earn additional rewards by completing a Headshot Challenge with the newly acquired weapon.

How to start the treasure hunt mission

This will allow you to cross-reference the clue you receive and determine exactly where you need to go.

To find and identify the clue in the Treasure Hunt mission, pay attention to one Note attached to a rock, tree or other object within the area shown in the photo sent to your in-game phone. As you approach the correct location, you will hear the distinctive sound of a metal wind chime signaling proximity to the clue.

Del Perro Pier

The picture shows the beach next to the Del Perro Pier. From where the sand begins, players can go under the pier to find the hidden note attached to the wooden pillar in the middle.

Vinewood Hills

The emailed image shows a mountain north of the Vinewood Hills Observatory. Players will find the note on the Baytree Canyon map in GTA Online next to a yellow hut.

Mount Josiah

This image shows a mountain range from a distance and the note is near the northwestern edge of the search area. The note is attached to a large rock near the edge of the cliff that overlooks a metal bridge.

Cassidy Creek

In the northern part of the search area, on the river bank, players can find the bridge shown in the emailed image. There is a tall tree next to the dirt road where the note can be collected.

Great chaparral

  • Players are given a picture of a fenced-in church. The note is behind the building, attached to a gravestone with a cross.
  • The tracks in the picture are near the southwest part of the search area and the note is on a post in front of a cliff with a door at the base.

Grand Senora Desert

This picture shows a cliff with a wooden door at the bottom. The note is attached to the door GTA Online.

Pacific Ocean

The shore shown in the image is on the northeastern edge of the search area and the note is on a rock near the eastern tip of the island.

Los Santos Golf Club

Players will find the bridge shown in the picture in the middle of the golf course and the note is attached to the pole at the western end of the bridge.

Pacific Bluffs Cemetery

This image shows several rows of graves, and there is a note attached to one of the large gravestones on the southwestern edge of the search area.

San Chianski Mountains

  • The image shows a pier in the southwestern part of the search area near the water’s edge. The note is attached to one of the posts on the cliff across the water from the pier.
  • Players can find the wooden cross in the picture at the top of the mountain near the northwest edge of the search area. The note is on the cross.

Tataviam Mountains

Players are given a picture of a shore with a nearby cliff full of trees. The note is attached to the base of the cliff on the edge of the water just before the land bridge.

Sandy shores

  • The cliff in the image is located slightly southwest of the center of the search area. The note is attached to the Chiliad card on the wooden platform.
  • The rock formation in the picture is on the southwestern edge of the search area and the note is attached to the base of the largest rock.

Alamo Lake

At the edge of the search area on the southern shore of the Alamo Sea, players will find a washed-up boat that matches the image sent via email. The note is on the large rock next to the boat in GTA Online.

Paleto Bay

The image shows the shore of Paleto Bay with a broken wooden bridge that can be found in the northern part of the search area. The bill is attached to a pole between the broken pieces of bridge.

Tongva Hill

  • Near the southeastern edge of the search area, players can find the owl statue with the note attached to the front.
  • Players will receive a picture of the vineyard via email. The note is located on the eastern edge of the search area. It is attached to a rock under the bridge near the vineyard.

Mount Chiliad

The picture shows the summit of Mount Chiliad in GTA Onlineand the note is attached to a card on a wooden platform.
