Furniture, home decor, Christmas decorations, clothing, records – whatever you’re looking for, Sterling’s newest vintage shop has what you’re looking for. Another Woman’s Treasure celebrated its grand opening and acceptance into the Logan County Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday.

The store is located at 824 Sidney Ave. and belongs to Judy Shannon.

“This has been one of my passions since the 1970s. I started picking before people knew what it was. I went to auctions, bought boxes for 50 cents, then took what they wanted and sold the rest at a flea market every year, making a lot of money that way. said Shannon.

At some point, she opened a small, 900-square-foot store in Alliance, Nebraska, but was unable to find success there. So she came to Sterling to work at the Sterling Correctional Facility. Seven years later, she has retired from prison and is now “back to doing what I really like to do.”

Another Woman’s Treasure offers a wide selection of items from a variety of vendors, some just starting out and others who have been around for a while. Right now, Shannon is working on setting up her 13th salesperson in the store. Each vendor rents monthly and pays $1 per square foot, plus 10 percent of their sales go to Shannon.

“I want to be very seller-friendly because I’m a seller myself and I know what it’s like,” she said.

After just a month, business is going well with more vendors than she expected.

“It’s really gotten pretty crazy; I didn’t expect that kind of growth for another three to six months,” said Shannon.

The size of the sales areas varies depending on how much each person needs to sell. Currently, one provider has an entire room and three-quarters of another room, while others have smaller areas of 4×5 feet and 10×10 feet. And the store still has room to grow if more vendors want to join.

In addition to the sellers, the store also has many customers.

“It’s great, people come all the time,” Shannon said.

She also hopes that her new store will help her raise money for good causes. Shannon said she would like to host community garage sale events with proceeds going to the Logan County Humane Society and other charities. Additionally, she hopes to partner with local high school students or 4-H members who could come by and provide shoppers with breakfast or lunch, which could raise money for their club or organization.

“I want to give back to the community because the community has been so welcoming to us,” Shannon said.

Another Woman’s Treasure is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 970-571-4242, email anotherwomanstreasure.824@gmail.org or visit the Facebook page.
