Gather your search parties. The second clue for Brown Deer’s treasure hunt is here.
Members of the public have a chance to win $1,500 and a free meal – if they find a medallion hidden throughout the 4.5 square miles of Milwaukee’s northern suburbs.
The medallion hunt began on Tuesday, May 14, with the release of the first clue.
Here’s the second clue: Three days have passed and you still haven’t found me. Don’t waste your time looking into a tree. I’m afraid of heights and prefer the ground. I can be found there. There is fun for everyone in this place. Take out the shadows under the summer sun. Let’s fire up the grill and hand me a plate. In one of the most diverse suburbs in this state.
Clues for Brown Deer’s first-ever medallion hunt in 2024 will be posted every Tuesday and Friday on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel website and regular Brown Deer communications channels until the medallion is found. Up to eight clues will be created for the hunt, according to a May 7 press release from Village Manager Tyler Burkart.
Burkart said no property, vegetation or soil would have to be damaged to find the medallion.
The medallion hunt is coordinated by the Brown Deer Community Foundation and sponsored by local Brown Deer restaurant Café Corazon, 4102 W. Bradley Road.

What was the first clue?
Here’s the first clue: It’s May 14th and I’m excited to start hunting and running free. I am the heart of Café Corazon, the home of delicious food. Find me and you will be in a party mood. I’m hiding in a public place where children are playing and you can be outside on a nice day. Brown Deer home values continue to rise. If you want to win the prize, you better start.
What does the medallion look like?
The medallion is intended to mimic Café Corazon’s logo and is in the shape of a heart about 3 inches in diameter.
It was crafted by Jean Wells, a local Brown Deer artist who has been making contemporary stoneware ceramics as a professional potter for 30 years, the release said. Wells is the current president of Wisconsin Craft and a member of the Milwaukee Artists Resource Network.
What is the price for finding the medallion?
The lucky person who finds the medallion will receive a free meal for four at the cafe as well as the grand prize of $1,500.
The Brown Deer Community Foundation and Café Corazon will also host a photo opportunity and ceremony to honor the winner.
