Reddit user JoeJoe535 posted the most unexpected spawn location for a chest in his world: in the middle of lava. As they stared at the chest floating above the molten sea, they faced a dilemma. Since there was a risk of it burning from the heat and fire, the contents of the chest remained locked.

Luckily, the community came forward with helpful tips on how to get the goods in the chest. Palworlds Fire mounts can walk across lava, allowing players to reach loot in the middle of a volcano unscathed. Flying mounts do not touch the lava, but can get close enough to grab the prey. Some posters even suggested that lava did no harm in certain areas and that simply wearing heat-resistant armor would be enough.
Whether this is an intended spawn location or a bug has not been confirmed. There are different ways to get a treasure chest in lava. It doesn’t matter whether you walk over it or drive in with a pal Palworld, it is possible to get the loot. However, there are no chests in water areas such as the sea or ponds for players to come across. They also were not found in the volcano or other lava areas on the map. Typically, chests are located in much more accessible locations. Although they could still get prey from it due to the odd position, this seems to be more of a bug than an intended feature.
While there are always treasure chest locations, it’s strange to find one in a lava pool. If this is an intended feature, players may see more creative locations for chests to spawn. Having a team with different types of buddies for players to drive on, especially those who can fly in Palworldseems to be the best way not to miss any treasure.
